Cécile Thompson is a 71 year-old woman with a great heart, always anxious to help others. Fourteen years ago, while she was an assistant principal at an Oshawa, Ontario school, two young brothers aged five and seven, lost their mother to cystic fibrosis. Cécile offered their father to take his small sons in her home for a weekend a month. This ritual lasted seven years. In spite of the age difference and the distance that would sometimes separate them, Cécile managed to keep in touch with Nicholas, the older of the boys. Nicholas, now 24, has a degree in business administration and works in Toronto. His relation with Cécile is still very much alive. Three years ago, he confessed to Cécile that he was gay. This did not surprise her and moved by compassion, she helped Nicholas’s father to better understand and accept his son’s homosexuality.
