EPISODE 11: Marguerite and Élysée
Location:
Toronto, Ontario
Synopsis:

Novelist, essayist and poet, 82 year-old Margaret Andersen is also an immigrant who has lived a most interesting life, having taught in France, England, Germany, Tunisia, Ethiopia, the United States and Canada. Very active and a feminist before the term was coined, she now lives and writes in Toronto where she teaches French and holds writing seminars on a regular basis. She has a very deep relationship with her granddaughter, Élysée, 27, a new mother who is working on a Ph.D. in Anthropology. The two women are first and foremost great friends. They share the same passion for freedom, books and cinema. Élysée likes that she can speak French with Marguerite, and firmly intends that her daughter will speak it as well. Marguerite and Élysée have frequent discussions about everything under the sun: politics, love, art, daily life and sexuality. No subject – or almost – is considered out of bounds.
